Sex Meditation...Up Your Pleasure

It's time to take meditation from the spiritual to the sexual. Using sex meditation will up the pleasure factor in your sexytime experience.

Actually, spirituality and sexuality are the same and there isn’t a separation between them as much as certain religions try to make them separate.

Sex is a primal act but it can also be a potent form of prayer.

If the idea of meditation freaks you out or intimidates you or feels too hippie dippy…stop right now, close your eyes, focus on your breath as you inhale and then focus as you exhale and BOOM!

Meditation 101. You did it.

Simply bringing your attention to your breath takes your attention out of your mind and all the chatter it likes to create.

So in that moment, you were focusing on your breath which allowed your mind to relax.

Meditation is not something to do and effort towards.

It’s a slowing down to be in this moment and have a conscious observation of what is happening inside.

So, when you bring meditation into your sensuality and lovemaking practices, you bring relaxation and clarity.

A simple way to start meditating before getting sexy:

  • Bring your attention into your inner world by sitting or lying in a comfortable position,
  • Find the rhythm of your breathing and focusing on each inhale and exhale.
  • As your mind settles down and clears space, your attention moves to your sensual body experience which expands your pleasure.

All the heightened awareness that comes with meditation now gets to focus on your experience of body, heart and pleasures.

You are familiar with the chatter of the mind, that little voice asking questions during sex or judging yourself, or wondering...Am I giving enough pleasure? Am I doing this right? Do they like it? How much longer is this going to take? Is this long enough?

All the chaos the mind creates when engaging in a sexual experience can disappear when you bring your attention to your inner world and your experience.

When you get distracted, simply come back to your breath.

Always find the breath to help you slow down and connect to your body again.

If you have been in a long-term relationship, I’m sure you’ve noticed times when sex becomes more of a routine or an automatic process rather than the exciting spontaneous experience it once was.

This routine begins to reduce each person’s capacity for enjoyment and pleasure.

However, when you quiet the mind, you bring back a sense of innocence and curiosity because you are allowing your body to lead the way.

This is how you deautomate the act of love making with a long term partner.  Allowing yourselves to approach sex with clarity and quiet of the mind and drop into the experience of the moment.

So take your meditation practice into your lovemaking.  Share this idea with your partner and start something new.

If you don’t have a partner at the moment, it is a great time to cultivate this practice for yourself in your self lovemaking time.
